UGLPOA COMMITTEES
The Board of Trustees has the responsibility to initiate and approve plans and programs for the welfare of the UGLPOA, has custody and management of the land, buildings, equipment, securities, and all other properties of the corporation. The Board carries out these responsibilities through the various committees some of which are:
Committee/Chairperson/Meeting Dates
Activities Standing Committee– responsible for arrangement and schedule for most lake activities. Kathy Straubel - 3rd Thursday
Beach Standing committee– responsible for the maintenance, supervision and improvement of all beaches. Laura Nietzer -3rd Tuesday
Boathouse (ad-hoc committee) - in charge of the Boathouse, also known as the Old Firehouse,maintaining the building and making all arrangements for boat storage during the winter. Rob Burr - Meets as required.
ByLaws - Reviews and revises,as required, the ByLaws and the Rules and Regulations. Lou Mangerpan -Meets as required.
Clubhouse Standing committee – responsible for the care, maintenance and improvement of the clubhouse. Andy Fineman - 4th Thursday
Dam Safety Standing committee- responsible for Dam safety and maintenance. Edward Igielski - Meets as required.
Docks – responsible for assignment of docks. Ed Igielski - Meets as required
Dredging Standing committee- responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all dredging projects on the lake. The goal is to maintain and/or improve the health of the lake by removing decomposed material build-ups that occur and prevent loss of lake areas by growth in silted in areas. Karen Sarnowski - Meets as req'd
Easement – All Easement members are automatically members of this committee. The Easement Committee meets at 7pm before each Board meeting which is the 1st Tue of each month. This 7pm meeting is an opportunity for any member to discuss or present any issue they wish to have addressed, be it easement or POA related. Andy Fineman - Meets 7pm 1st Tue every month.
Environmental – responsible for lake water testing,environmental issues. Pat Toffler - Meets as required.
Executive – responsible for planning the agenda for all Board meetings and general meetings. Jason Horn - Exec Board members only. Meets as req'd.
Legal – works with the Board attorney on all matters pertaining to Association business. Karen Sarnowski - Meets as required.
Master Planning Standing committee- responsible for developing and updating a UGL Master Plan for all aspects of the lake. Rob Burr - Meets as required.
Membership - Responsible for membership payments. Karen Sarnowski - Meets as required.
Parklands Standing committee– responsible for the management of the parklands. Jim Jones - 2nd Tuesday
Parklands Encroachments Standing committee- identify and investigate encroachments. Laura Nietzer - Meets as req'd
Publicity Standing committee– responsible for and liaison between the association and all news media, publication of the newsletter, maintenance of the website, distribution of Welcome Packets, and updating the volunteer list. Lou Mangerpan - Meets As required.
Security - responsible for the marine patrol and Parklands security. Jason Horn - Meets as req'd.
Stumps - responsible for stump marking and removal. Rene Manzo - Meets as required.
Weeds Control Standing committee– responsible for the control of weeds. Pat Toffler - Meets as required.
Each committee of volunteers is chaired by a Board member and most committees meet regularly to ensure the UGLPOA’s and the Board’s responsibilities are fulfilled and to ensure members have a clean safe lake to enjoy recreational activities. Committees that do not meet regularly and are not listed here can be found on the Officers and Trustee page in this web site. If you are interested in getting more involved with your lake, one sure way is to get involved with one of the committees. Don’t wait for an invitation. Find out from the UGLPOA office when committees meet and just show up. I guarantee you will be greeted with lots of smiles.
